BuiltByIndies is a professional ecosystem for makers, developers, and founders. These guidelines are designed to ensure the community remains a safe, productive, and respectful space for everyone.

Respect and Professionalism

We are a global community of diverse individuals. Treat every member with respect. Harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks of any kind-whether in profiles, stories, or comments-will result in immediate account suspension.

  • No discriminatory language based on identity, background, or skill level.
  • Provide constructive feedback, not criticism without purpose.
  • Public shaming or "call-out" threads are prohibited.

No Spam or Manipulation

Growth should be organic. Artificially manipulating rankings, karma, or engagement reduces the trust people have in the platform.

  • Do not create multiple accounts to upvote your own products or stories.
  • Sending unsolicited promotional messages (DM spam) is strictly forbidden.
  • Post relevant, high-quality content only. Low-effort "link drops" may be removed.

Authenticity

BuiltByIndies is about real makers building real products. Impersonation or deceptive behavior undermines the collective value of our network.

  • Your profile must represent a real person or legitimate organization.
  • Plagiarizing stories or claiming ownership of products you didn't build is a violation.
  • Honesty in your "Buildlog" and progress updates is encouraged.

Enforcement

Violating these guidelines can result in various enforcement actions:

Content Removal

Individual stories or comments may be hidden if they violate policy.

Account Suspension

Repeated or severe violations lead to permanent revocation of access.
